Book Review: Unblemished by Sara Ella . I love Stardust in novel form and they do a good job with the BBC Dramatization. Yet, Stardust never descends too far into being grim for the sake of grim, indeed it is in many ways one of the most truly lovely stories I have ever read. July 8, 2019 "Leveling up" on your Change One Challenge. Nowhere, perhaps with American Gods as the only exception, is this more apparent than in Stardust. For instance, one scene early in the book details an apparent disagreement at the fairy market between a young man and a visiting magician over the affections of the young man’s fiancé, a flirtatious barmaid, and though it is the magician who comes off best in the altercation it is ultimately her fiancé whom the barmaid runs to comfort afterwards. As dedicated readers already know, some of the best and most innovative stories on the shelves come from the constantly evolving realm of young ...Life moves at a leisurely pace in the tiny town of Wall—named after the imposing stone barrier which separates the town from a grassy meadow. [ Taking place in the mid-nineteenth century, the book’s setting is the mythical village of Wall somewhere in the south of England. By 4AM, October 3rd, I learned that not only it is possible, but also that Neil Gaiman is a talented, gifted writer with gorgeous imagination and invaluable, rare talent for recreating the noblest thing: magic.I will never understand how this book is so highly rated. The characters were vivid and the setting was descriptive enough to make me feel like I was in the book.

A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies book review. It was brilliant. The cast did a fantastic job and the show was really well written! I will definitely be listening to it again! Not only because it’s plot chiefly concerns a fairy tale quest for a lady’s hand, but also because it has all the magic and mystery of Victorian romanticism behind it making it very much feel like George McDonald for grownups. And yet, Gaiman writes her with more than enough personality to make her endearing, rather than irritating, I particularly admire the way that he does allow her to have a temper and comically spar with Tristran, but keeps the sparring within the bounds of decency and never lets it become actively vicious. Unlike most book-to-film adaptations, however, I felt that the movie had more character development and more details; and, indeed, more heart and more humor. Also, I defy any This is the one case, the ONLY case (so far.
August 3, 2019. That is as succinct a description as comes close to this very entertaining novel.

Tristran’s ensuing quest takes him deep into Faerie, and, unbeknownst to him, competition with the star’s other pursuers: three weird sisters (the Lilim), gifted with magical powers though still susceptible to “the snares of age and time”; and the surviving sons of the late Lord of Stormhold, accompanied everywhere by their several dead brothers (whom they happen to have murdered). If the movie hadn't been my carrot, though, I never would have made it through the first chapter, let alone the entire story. This is typified in a scene involving the nursery rhyme conflict of the lion and the unicorn fighting for the crown, complete with blood and mauling. I've read that Gaiman is better with graphic novels, and that seems likely. all the stars for stardust! First, I must say Stardust is one of my favorite movies ever, so I wasn't sure about reading the book! Tom Deacon - Rapture - Comedy Review . I cannot objectively consider the merits of the book because I missed so many aspects of the movie-story as I read. August 29th 2006 This is an excellent radio adaptation of Gaiman's (also excellent) novel.
I think Neil Gaiman’s talent is obvious by how easily he creates a story that appeals to all ages. However, in attempting to write a "fairy tale for adults" Gaimon completely missed the mark.
