Lovely bit of story telling from two lads that obviously have a very close friendship - and a real passion for Durham City. I heard about this film on Twitter. Following a set of clues which mysteriously appear in various locations they find out the intriguing identity of the Count. Loved it. But what makes this film stand out from other low budget indie films is the way that the audience feels like part of the film makers' friendship group as they share their jokes using looks at the camera and pointed corrections in the subtitles. A gentle but humorous film documenting a group of friends' research into a little Durham legend. A tune dedicated by an 18th /19th centuary Polish, musician who settled in Durham. Both book and film are about Joseph Boruwlaski, a supposed Polish count who grew to be only 99cm tall, and died in the English cathedral city of Durham in 1837, at the age of 97. A very interesting documentary told though the eyes of 3 friends, about a fascinating man who spent his latter years in the beautiful city of Durham. I love the thread of mystery running through the story, and it was entertaining to watch the guys' efforts to get as much info about the Little Count as they could without using the internet! An account of how the peasants of Provence kept Christmas six hundred years ago appears in this … They discover the amazing story of Joseph Boruwlaski. It is the little things that count. A wry, humorous look at the history of a building on the banks of the Wear with the help of four friends - discovering it by stages and with some help here and there its a great way to lounge back and enjoy Durham and discover a bit more in its history. One public house leads three friends to unearth another local legend. Well done and looking forward to your next project. Quirky, fun and friendly little history lesson from my home town! Chaos theory has a bad name, conjuring up images of unpredictable weather, economic crashes and science gone wrong. Joseph had travelled all over Europe having adventures, meeting celebrities and working as a musician. The story is told well, and there is an attempt at building in some ScoobyDoo -esq suspence and intrigue in a very British way. Well done and looking forward to your next project. I'm currently sitting on a flight from Connecticut to St. Louis, pondering a variety of minor occurrences that have recently happened in my life and marveling at the depth of their impact. As I'm not from Durham myself and I don't know either the story or the filmmakers, I was looking forward to seeing this. Was this review helpful?
